Begin with the complete wordmark

Channel-letter projects should be planned as a whole word or logo, not as separate attractive letters. Share the original artwork if you have it and show any required spacing or brand colours. Include small symbols and punctuation in the file so nothing disappears between the initial quote and the approved layout. Ask the supplier to flag details that may need adapting to the chosen construction.

Explain the lighting effect you want

Reference images are useful because descriptions such as “bright”, “soft” or “premium” mean different things to different people. Point out whether you prefer a lit face, light around the back of the letters or an unlit dimensional look. The exact materials, lighting components and mounting arrangement should be confirmed in the proposal. A reference establishes the visual direction; it is not a specification on its own.

Give the wall as much attention as the letters

Share the wall material, colour and available width, along with a straight-on photograph. Describe nearby objects and any limitations on drilling or access. Ask how individual letters will be positioned and whether a mounting panel is part of the supply. Clarify how visible cables or supports will be handled so the installed result matches the agreed design as closely as possible.

Review a labelled approval drawing

Before production, check the exact wording, overall dimensions, letter layout, colour references and lighting selection. A clear drawing should help you compare the supplied sign with the available space. If your local installer needs additional mounting or electrical information, request it before the production decision. Keep the approved version and quote together so everyone is working from the same specification.

Confirm what happens after fabrication

Ask how the letters will be packed, what components are included and whether templates or fixing instructions are supplied. Confirm delivery and installation responsibilities separately. For an international project, give the destination and installer details early. At Antique Signage, the starting point is your logo, a wall photo and your intended size; the remaining details can then be discussed around the project.
