Begin with one shared specification
Two quotes may describe the same business name but very different signs. Put the agreed width, height, quantity, material appearance and lighting requirement into a short specification. Send that same brief to each supplier. If a quote proposes an alternative, ask for the difference to be explained so you can decide whether the alternative still meets your needs.
Check what is actually included
Look for artwork preparation, sign fabrication, mounting components, packaging and delivery. Installation should have its own clear scope where it is offered. Ask about any items you will need to arrange separately. A lower headline figure is difficult to assess when one quote includes a service that another leaves to the customer. Keep inclusions and exclusions together when comparing proposals.
Compare design approvals and practical support
Ask when you will see the final layout, what needs to be approved and how changes will be handled. Confirm who will answer technical questions from your installer. For an illuminated sign, request the relevant product and installation information before making assumptions about suitability. Keep important commitments in the written quote or order confirmation rather than relying on a general marketing statement.
Give international delivery its own check
Confirm the destination, packaging arrangement and delivery scope. Ask how any taxes, import charges and local installation will be handled, without assuming they are included in the sign price. The delivery date should be discussed separately from the production date. If the project has a fixed opening or event date, make that constraint clear at the start of the enquiry.
