Choose words that belong in the space
A neon-style sign can be a business name, a short phrase or a simple image. Begin by thinking about the room: a reception needs a different message from a celebration backdrop. Write the exact text, including capitals and punctuation, before asking for a design. If it is a brand sign, check that the wording and letter style match your other customer-facing materials.
Use references with a clear purpose
Collect two or three examples and explain what attracts you to them. You might like the script in one image, the colour in another and the backing shape in a third. This is more useful than sending a large collection with no direction. Ask which parts of your artwork can be followed closely and which details may need adjusting for the proposed sign construction.
Plan the background and the camera view
Look at the wall colour, nearby lighting and the place where visitors will stand. If the sign will appear in photographs, consider how it fits into the full frame rather than treating it as an isolated object. Include furniture, decorative plants and other signage in your reference photo. Leave enough room around the design so it does not feel squeezed into the available space.
Do not leave mounting until the end
Discuss the backing, fixing positions, cable route and power location before you approve the design. Tell the supplier whether the sign will be permanent or moved between events. Confirm the product’s suitability for the intended indoor or outdoor setting; appearance alone cannot establish that. Your final quote should identify the construction being supplied rather than relying only on the general word “neon”.
Send a complete creative brief
For a first enquiry, include the text or logo, approximate size, reference colours, a room photograph and your delivery location. Mention any target date and whether an installer is involved. You can use the Antique Signage quote form to prepare the message, then attach your files in WhatsApp. A focused brief makes the next design conversation much more useful.
